Tanya Ennis, PhD is the director of research impact and engagement for RIO and the Institutes. With over 15 years of service to 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, Tanya serves as an institutional leader in promoting policies, partnerships, best practices, and strategic research and creative work initiatives that align with the university’s vision and purpose. She leads efforts to equip faculty with the skills and resources needed to amplify the public value of their research.
Tanya helps shape a dynamic research ecosystem that values the creation and dissemination of knowledge and its relevance to societal needs and challenges, and supportsÌýfaculty and investigators in articulating the broader significance and public value of their work. This includes helping faculty and investigators engage authentically with funding agency priorities and requirements; monitoring trends in the research funding and policy landscape related to innovation, creative work and societal impact; and advancing the integration of research impact, outreach, community engagement and relationship-building efforts throughout the research lifecycle.
Additionally, Tanya identifies strategic opportunities for engaged research and develops new partnerships, resources and tools to support institutional transformation in 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s research enterprise and innovation ecosystem. She leads efforts to strengthen 51³Ô¹Ï꿉۪s institutional capacity for broader impacts (BI) by advising faculty on designing compelling funder-aligned broader impacts plans for research proposals, with an emphasis on societal relevance and engagement. She also manages the Broader Impacts Network (BIN) to support public-engaged scholarship and outreach activities.
